All last week DANNIJO’s Rock ‘N’ Chains collection has been prominently featured in the Atrium of Henri Bendel as part of the store’s fall Chain event. The look – layered chains, mixed metals and flashes of electric color.  These are pieces that make a statement, so much so you’ll find that you’ll WANT to dress around the jewelry. Take a look!

Planning any shopping trips along Fifth Avenue this week? If so, stop by Henri Bendel (712 Fifth Ave.) and meet Danielle and Jodie Snyder of DANNIJO as they personally present their Rock N’ Chains collection.

The girls will be at Bendel’s starting at 10 a.m. – 7  p.m. on Tuesday, August 12 –  Friday, August 15th and again on Monday, August 19th.

Stop by and say hello!

It’s time! We’ve made client selections, notified the winners, finalized all the paperwork and now we’re ready to make our big announcement!

If you’ve been following us on Twitter, Facebook, or have been reading this blog, then you know that the selection process was tremendously difficult –our buzzing metropolis is full of designers, stylists and models that know how to make an impressive statement with their personal look/style.

While going through the process, we selected clients in four categories and added a fifth “wild card” division to accommodate the astounding amount of talent to choose from.

So who will be receiving free public relations representation this summer leading up to New York Fashion Week?

Drumroll please….

After much consideration, Jack + Bill is excited to present to you the following fresh faces and names in New York fashion!

  •  Jewelry: DANNIJO, a modern jewelry line created by sisters Danielle and Jodie Snyder, exudes classic sophistication with a touch of rock n’ roll. Using varied materials – silver, gold, gunmetal, and brass—and colorful elements—drusy quartz, crystals, amethyst, turquoise, sharks teeth and pearls – their statement jewelry often creates a collage-like effect.
  •  Fashion Stylist: Kalyn Johnson, a lawyer turned fashion stylist with a chic sensibility and unique flair for helping everyday professionals look their best.
  • Women’s Apparel: AIRA, a modern women’s collection designed by sisters Karen and Annie Lin, inspired by air, nature and the constant change of season.
  • Model: Christopher Fawcett, a former Navy serviceman from Denver, with a recognizable fresh face and boyish charm.
  • Wild Card: Badgley/Sneed Designs, a new collection of one-of-a-kind, sophisticated jewelry created by Lynne Badgley and Jan Sneed, is made of genuine stones and cultured freshwater pearls combined with primarily 14K or 18K gold findings.

Anyone can start a blog these days, although cultivating an audience isn’t always as easy. Young blogger, Tavi, a 12-year-old living in the ‘burbs’ found her passion for fashion early, and now she’s using it to captivate other aspiring fashionistas with her blog Style Rookie where she shares her perspective on hot style trends and DIY fashion. By just one page view of her blog you can tell she loves to experiment with different looks and enjoys interpretating haute couture through her own personally styled photoshoots.

Here’s an excerpt:

“Yesterday my friend Krea and I felt very D&G and took it upon ourselves to splatter my white tutu with paint. Though paint-splattered tutu is pretty self-explanatory, I thought I’d take pictures along the way just the same.”

What’s remarkable about this, besides the fact that she’s 12 years-old, is that she’s receiving national attention. New York Magazine has in fact confirmed that Tavi will be featured in the August 17th issue of the New York Times’ T Style Magazine, so stay tuned to learn more about this. Just goes to show the power of a strong online presence.

Did you know that Converse has been around 100 years? Maybe that’s why they’ve recently revamped their marketing strategy and associating their brand with indie music favorites as Santogold, Kid Sister, Julian Casablanca of The Strokes, MGMT and many more.

To mark their centennial they’ve announced a few special releases.  I present to you the All Star Python Hi, All Star Mocomoco Hi, Quilted Ox Series, Metagater Jack Purcell as well as some other special models.

Be on the look out for these in September. (via highsnobiety)

“Looks like Blake Lively passed the first girlfriend test: getting mom’s approval! The Gossip Girl star, 20, was on hand with co-star beau, Penn Badgley, 21, in NYC as his mother, Lynne, and godmother, Jan Sneed, auditioned to win free representation from fashion PR firm Jack + Bill for their new jewelry line, Badgley Sneed Designs. ‘It’s very good,’ Penn gushed of his mom’s line, noting, ‘There are pieces that they can wear and Blake can wear.’ The duo cuddled together while they tried on the jewels, and even stole a few kisses.”

We finally have a moment to catch our breath! Okay, well not really. Initial interviews may be complete, but we’re now in the most difficult phase – the big review!!! We’re gathering in our boardroom in an hour to go over all the applicants we think have the greatest potential to be the next big thing in New York fashion.

The turnout was almost as good as Barney’s annual warehouse sale, okay obvious exaggeration, but we were extremely pleased with the 150 plus talent we met over the past few days. The one thing everyone had in common – passion – they believe in their design and they want others to as well! It’s no wonder so many stopped by the studio to meet with our team. One model made the trek from Boston, one stylist delayed an editorial photoshoot deadline, a jewelry designer rearranged her flight just so she could meet with us, oh and only two of the most talked about stars on Gossip Girl – Penn Badgley and Blake Lively came to support Penn’s family during the casting! As New Yorkers we don’t like to fawn over celebrities, they’re just people, but I’m not going to lie I did experience a little bit of OMFG when GG’s Dan Humphrey and Serena Van der Woodsen asked me to hold a Badgley/ Sneed design up to the light to admire. Amazing!

We met Rebecca Turbow, a fashion designer who only wears grey – every single day of the year – she used to wear turquoise, but got tired of it. Now it’s grey, and although her personal style remains neutrally toned, her personality and clothing line, safe, is anything but. You may recall seeing her profile in NY Magazine’s color piece awhile ago.

We also met with Chanel Kennebrew who started her collection after finding a broken sewing machine in a trashcan making the saying another one’s trash is someone else’s treasure all the more true. Her design features collage-printed pieces that are based on themes of duality and stereotypes.  She also keeps everything local and sweatshop free, which is something we like to hear!

I tried to liveblog the experience along with Rad, but as you can see Wednesday’s contribution was a little light due to the constant flow of jewelry design applicants stopping by our table. It was inspiring to preview so many styles, learn about new techniques and listen to personal perspectives on design. We saw funky, bold, intricate detail, elegant, young, downtown, uptown, etc. Erica and I found ourselves constantly oohing and ahhing – needless to say, it’s going to be a hard decision!

Best of luck to everyone who applied! Stay tuned for more updates!

Lauren changed her flight to visit Jack + Bill

Rumor has it that a certain “lonely boy” is making his way downtown to support his mama who has a burgeoning jewelry line. What would GG say about that?!

xoxo!

Very little time to blog.
